William "Bud" Terpstra, Jr., age 88, of Milaca, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Burial will follow at Pease Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Bud was born in Kanabec County on July 22, 1937 to William Terpstra Sr. and Jennie (Visser) Terpstra. He attended a country school in Arthur Township and worked on his dad’s farm until 1958. He met Vonda Lee Kragt at Fish Lake roller rink in 1957 and they married and moved to Minneapolis in 1959. Bud joined the National Guard in 1960 and he worked for United Parcel Service until 1975. Bud and Vonda wanted to move to the country and farmed near Milaca until retiring in 1996, then Bud drove grain trucks for Koppendrayer Trucking until 2007. Bud enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, puzzles, wood-working and traveling in his spare time. He volunteered for Justice For All for several years and also served on the Pease School Board and CRC council.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vonda; his children, Dennis (Maggie) Terpstra of Talkeetna AK, Joel (Melissa) Terpstra of Milaca, Janice (Jeff) Hanenburg of Milaca, and Kristie (Stephen) Heard of Fredericton, Canada; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Vanden Burg, Rosie Nelson, Joan (Hank) Byl; brother, John Terpstra; sister-in-law, Olive Terpstra and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Jennie; brothers, Gene, Peter and Stan; sister, Hermina Kiel, and also brothers-in-law, Bert Vanden Berg, Haijo Kiel, and Darrell Nelson.
