Vicki Ellen Thompson

Funeral service for Vicki Thompson, age 72, of Milaca, will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11 AM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.  Visitation will take place from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the church on Friday

Vicki Ellen (Buth) Thompson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, August 26, 1949 and passed away suddenly at home on August 11, 2022. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1967 and completed a two-year associate degree at St. Cloud Business College.  She worked as a bookkeeper for a local bakery, followed by Anderson Accounting and then was employed at the Mille Lacs County Court House for 15 years where she met her future husband, Philip Thompson.  They were married on April 24, 1982 and celebrated their 40^th wedding anniversary this year.

Vicki had a strong love of reading and was often found with her nose in a book.  She was an avid bridge player and loved to play cards with her bridge club or at family gatherings.  Her keen sense of humor was enjoyed by all. As a loyal fan she enjoyed cheering on the Wild, the Vikings, and the Twins alongside Phil. Vicki’s musical talents included playing guitar and singing, both solo and in various groups, including Free Spirit at Trinity Lutheran Church and the worship team at Milaca Evangelical Free Church.  Her love of choral music brought her to the Oratorio Society of Minnesota in the summer of 2019, touring Italy and performing in beautiful cathedrals with her daughter, Heather. Faith and family were her top priorities and her love of Jesus was evident to all who knew her.

Vicki was preceded in death by her father William Buth, mother Helen Bolling (Payonk), and stepfather Walter Bolling. She is survived by her brother Ronnie (Dolly) Buth, husband Philip, three children, Heather (Paul) Buum, Lisa (Joe) Robertson, and Tony (Kasey) Thompson, and two grandchildren Sam and Lydia Buum.
