Tim McGraw

A memorial mass for Tim McGraw, age 61, of Foreston, will be held Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Foreston with Father James Remmerswaal, OSC, officiating.  Visitation will be held Sunday, July 09, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church with a rosary service at 5 PM.   Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services Monday. Timothy James McGraw was born May 9, 1956 to Bernard and Doris (Church) McGraw in Milaca, MN. Tim was the fourth of six children and grew up on his parents’ small dairy farm in Foreston, MN. Tim graduated from Milaca High School in 1975. During his school years, he was involved in many extra-curricular activities such as wrestling, show choir, one-act play and FFA. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sandra Ekstrom, on November 27. 1976, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Princeton, MN. Tim and Sandy purchased a small farm house in Foreston, MN, where he lived until the time of his death. Tim and Sandy had four wonderful children: Chad, Christina, Curk and Cole. Tim spent his entire life always working hard. He was employed for last twenty-plus years at Schroeder Construction in Zimmerman, MN. Besides his day-to-day job, Tim dedicated his time and efforts helping other and his community. He was an EMT for North Memorial Ambulance Service for twenty-five years and also taught First Responder courses. He was also a very active and proud member of the Foreston Fire and Rescue Department, retiring in 2016 with over thirty years of service. Tim also spent time as a member of the Milaca Jaycees and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. If anyone ever needed help or advice, Tim was a man you could count on. Tim enjoyed spending time camping, traveling, watching movies, going to Canterbury Park, and spending time with his family and friends. Tim was a huge sports fan, and was one of Milaca Wrestling’s biggest fans. He followed the Milaca Wrestling team all over the state and tried to never miss a wrestling event. Tim adored his nine grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and always enjoyed watching them compete in sports and other activities. Tim passed away peacefully at his home on July 4, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Chad McGraw, Christina Schoenborn, Curk McGraw and Cole McGraw; grandchildren, Tori McGraw, Preston McGraw, Jack Schoenborn, Robert McGraw, Elijah McGraw, Nicholas Schoenborn, Soleanna McGraw, Eleanna McGraw and Leona McGraw; mother, Doris McGraw; siblings, Charolette (Steve) Geis, Roger (Roberta) McGraw, Joanne Engwer, Neil (Kim) McGraw and Debra Barnes; father-in-law, Donald Ekstrom; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; mother-in-law, Genieve Ekstrom and other extended family members.
