Sharon L. Zimmer

Sharon (Green) Zimmer, age 83, passed away September 15, 2018.  Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.  Interment will be at the Redwood Falls Cemetery at 5:00 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made on Sharon’s behalf to the Milaca Elim Home Recreation and Activities Department.

Sharon was born July 20, 1935 to Roy O. and Eleanor (Baldwin) Green in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  Sharon attended Redwood Falls Public Schools.  In 1952, Sharon married Donald Zimmer.   They raised their five sons in a number of southern Minnesota communities with most of the years in Wabasso.  Sharon later married Harlan Kretsch in 1974.

Sharon loved gardening, traveling, camping, flowers, walking, church, singing in the choir, movies, and life in general.  She enjoyed watching her sons play sports at Wood Lake and Wabasso.  Sharon owned and operated Like-Nu Dry Cleaning in Mankato and later Crabby Bills in Canal Park in Duluth.  Sharon was known for her kindness, wit, and humor.  She claims her biggest achievement in life was raising her five boys.  She and her family are very grateful for the love, kindness, and care she received the past seven years at the Milaca Elim Home.

Sharon is survived by her five sons, Doug and Mary Jo of Alexandria, Mike and Chris of Plymouth, Randy and Kris of Milaca, Dan and Kay of Newnan, Georgia, and Tom of Duluth; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie and Paul Christensen of Wabasso; two brothers, Gordon Green of Mankato and Claude Green of Long Prairie. 

Sharon was preceded in death by Donald Zimmer and Harlan Kretsch; her parents, Roy and Eleanor; her brother, Douglas; sister, Annette, and great-granddaughter, Mariah.
