Sharon Jean Nelson

Sharon Jean Nelson, age 80, passed away October 23, 2023 surrounded by her family.  Funeral service will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

 

She was born September 20, 1943 in Cleveland, OH.  Sharon met her future husband, Carl, when he was stationed in Cleveland while in the Army.  They were married March 18, 1961.  Within four years, they were blessed with four children.

Sharon enjoyed snowmobiling with Carl and many friends, making a few trips out west.  She also was an avid bowler on leagues for many years.  Sharon loved to ride on Carl’s Harley, going on leisurely rides.  She also enjoyed going on vacation to Rainey Lake on a house boat trips with many friends.  Her hobbies included gardening, baking delicious apple pies and making jams and jellies for family and friends.

In September 1968, Sharon moved her young family to the Nelson family dairy farm near Pease, MN.  They farmed for many years and retired in 2001. In 2003, she decided to start working at Milaca Schools. She enjoyed working there seeing her grandchildren and met some wonderful friends.   She once again retired in 2015.   In 2008, Sharon and Carl were awarded the Century Farm Award.  She moved to an assisted living facility in 2022, selling the family farm to her granddaughter.

She is survived by daughter, Darlynn (Scott) Gould;  sons, Daren (Valerie) Nelson and Darell (Kris) Nelson;  twelve grandchildren, Jared Gould, Megan (Josh) Paulson, Derek (Michon) Nelson, Jessica Zoerb, DesiRae (Brian) Feldhauser, Darrell (Nicole) Nelson, Austin Nelson, Samantha Nelson, Sawyer Nelson, Bryan (Yalanda) Nelson, Bradley Nelson, Rachel (Brian) McLalwain;  ten great-grandchildren;  sister, Sally Howell;  brother-in-law, John Banks and sister-in-law, Wilma Williams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl;  parents, Carlton and Dorothy Williams;  half-brother, Daniel Schillins;  brothers, Harry and Bob Williams;  sisters, Nancy Blasko, Pat Buettner and Darleen Banks;  brothers-in-law, Joe Blasco, Al Howell and Bob Buettner;  sister-in-law, Bev Williams;  son, Dean Nelson and infant grandson, Christopher Nelson.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
