Ronald Eugene Van Sickle

Graveside services for Ronald Van Sickle, age 94, of Milaca, will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2 PM at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca with Pastor Daniel Carlson officiating.

Ronald “Van” Eugene Van Sickle was born March 13, 1925, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to Charles and Ida (Scott) Van Sickle.  He grew up and graduated from Montevideo High School. He married Mayme Heath. Later he married Iva McNamara. Later he married Mildred Nelson. He had four children, Roni, Jeanette, Gary, and Sharlet. During his life he lived in Montevideo, North St. Paul, Denver, Colorado, and finally Milaca, Minnesota.

Ron began working in construction. As a young man, Ron traveled to Greenland and helped to build the Thule Air Force Base.  He would eventually go to work for Michelin Tire until his retirement as a tire salesman.  He enjoyed traveling, bowling and was also a lifetime member of the NRA.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Roni Mickle of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Sharlet and Jeff Huston of Blue Earth, Minnesota; grandchildren Shawn Mickle, Staci and Curt Markgraf, Dawn Van Sickle and Glenn Gentillin, Steven and Amy Mickle, Shelly and Trevor Reiten, Skeeter and Katie Burmeister and Tate and Missy Burmeister, step-daughter, Linda Gilder and his many other step-children, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three wives;  infant daughter, Jeanette Van Sickle;  son, Gary Van Sickle and great-grandson, Tanner Markgraf.

Ronald passed away at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton on Friday, August 16, 2019.
