Robert Bergstrom

Robert Leonard Bergstrom was born November 2, 1925 to Oscar and Julia (Jensen) Bergstrom in Karlstad, MN. He graduated from Milaca High School and then entered the Air Force and was in World War II and the Korean War. He lived in Sweden before returning and marrying Erma Johnson and starting a family. Robert and Erma were called to missions overseas with the Evangelical Covenant Church and served in the Democratic Republic of Congo at Imeloko, Karawa, and Wasolo. They closed out their missionary careers at Yaloke in Central African Republic.

After retirement, they settled south of Bock, MN. Robert and Erma have loved hosting family, friends, and events on their farm. Robert was an exceptionally gifted carpenter, and he helped many people with their projects. He worked tirelessly into his 90’s, sharing his skills and helping others, as well as caregiving for Erma during her last years.

Robert thoroughly enjoyed his 100th birthday celebration and was grateful to be cared for at home until he passed.

Robert loved the Lord and will be deeply missed by his children, Paul (Dana), Julie, Ron, Janel, and his two grandchildren, Laura (Henry) Lee and Johnny.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma; parents, Oscar and Julia; and his brother, Maurice.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11 AM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church.  Interment will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
