Nicholas Nathan Hathaway, 52, of Milaca, MN passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Newport, Rhode Island in 1973 to Virgil and Virginia Hathaway. He attended school in Colstrip, MT where he graduated High School in 1992 and married India Marie Kountz July 25, 1992. They moved to Foreston, MN where Nick worked at Woodcraft Industries for many years before becoming a drywall contractor. They had three children, Dedria, Nathan and Natasha.

Nick was known for his love of music, humor and resilience. He played the guitar in a high school band and continued to play for his children and family. He enjoyed working on cars and was a jack-of-all trades. He was a loving father, son and brother.

Nick is survived by his children, Dedria Hathaway, Natasha Hathaway, Nathan (Cassandra) Hathway; grandchildren, Lydia, Ender, Ezra, Elric, Elessar; parents Virgil and Virginia Hathaway; sister, Melissa (Joel) Marudas and nieces, Brittaney, Romy and Sofia; great-nephews Cyril, Ronan, Otto and Xander; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Charlene Hathaway; Russel Wiedewitsch; Lois and Dick Winter; uncle Brian “Quint” Hathaway and aunt Sheryl Mayes Oakerstrom.

A celebration of life will be held on March 14 from 1-4p.m. at Appledorn’s Sunset Bay Resort Event Center, Isle, MN.
