Margaret Austin

A memorial service for Margaret Austin, age 94, will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Milaca Elim Home, 730 2nd St. SE, Milaca MN 56353 or Elim Oasis Adult Day Care, 112 N 7th Ave., Princeton, MN 55371 or online at www.princetonelimoasis.org.

“Margie” was born in Minneapolis to Robert and Mabel Feigum, the second of ten children. She grew up in Kingsdale, MN and graduated from high school in Cloverton, MN. She married Dale Austin of Cloverton in 1941. Margie and Dale had four children, Barbara, Bob, Debra and Steve. They lived in Illinois, South Dakota, Montana and Oregon during their 52-year marriage. She worked at Cream of Wheat in Minneapolis and sold dresses door to door during WWII, as a beautician in the 1950’s, in school lunch programs in the 1960’s, and as a mail-order supervisor for Harry and David in the 1970’s – 1980’s. After Dale’s death, she moved to Milaca in 1998 to be near her mother and siblings.

She is survived by her sisters Joyce Billmark and Nancy Johnson; brothers Russ and Pete Feigum; daughters, Barbara Shaw and Debra Gilchrist; granddaughters Tanya Wahl and Danyell Long; grandsons Rik Sauer and Robert Austin; step-grandsons Mike and Joe Gilchrist; great-granddaughters Stefani Beyerl and Sofia Austin; great-grandsons Ethan and Skylar Wahl, and Blaine, Ryan and Jaycob Long; step-great-grandsons Brennan and Teran Gilchrist; great-great granddaughter Sophia Beyerl; and in-laws Roy Billmark, Don Johnson, Willow Feigum, Theresa Feigum, Becky Feigum, Connie Austin, Steve Wood, Gordy Wahl, Karla Austin and Martin Gilchrist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Norma Dalsveen and Connie Coleman, brothers Bob, Merle and Don Feigum; husband Dale Austin, sons Bob and Steve Austin; granddaughter Randi Wood; great-grandson Zach Wahl; in-laws Lloyd Dalsveen, Lynn Coleman, Zelda and Barbara Feigum, Lois Feigum, Mildred Kraetsch, Floyd Austin, Ray Austin, Jean Mertes, and Gene Shaw.

She had many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and her wonderful caregiver, Amy Anderson.
