LaVon Ziegler

December 7, 1944 — April 24, 2026

Milaca

LaVon Clare Ziegler, 81, of Milaca, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. She was born on December 7, 1944, in Farmington, where she grew up with her parents, Clarence and Evelyn (Millam) Alich, and her sisters, Mardell and Lynn. She graduated from Farmington High School before moving to Milaca to be near extended family.

LaVon married John Ziegler, and together they built a life rooted in family, farming, and community. They raised two sons, Adam and Aaron, while working side by side on the farm and later building a home nearby. LaVon worked in several roles over the years, including clerking auctions, but found her calling as an early childhood educator with HeadStart. After retiring, she enjoyed working at Milaca Depot Floral.

After John’s passing, LaVon met her partner, Arne Pearson, through their shared love of square dancing. What began on the dance floor grew into a relationship filled with warmth, laughter, and companionship. Together they traveled to Alaska, Kentucky, Minnesota’s North Shore, and many places in between, visiting friends and relatives along the way.

LaVon had an infectious, often irreverent sense of humor. She loved the quiet beauty of nature, spending hours on the deck with Arne watching birds, deer, and the wildlife around their pond. A lifelong horse lover, she enjoyed riding and once competed in barrel racing. She took pride in her gardens and flower beds, and she treasured camping trips, especially those that included stock car or NASCAR races. She was an enthusiastic Jimmie Johnson fan. She also loved square dancing, which brought her joy, community, and ultimately the gift of meeting Arne. Above all, LaVon was devoted to her family, and she especially cherished the annual Millam family reunion.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; her husband, John; and her son, Adam. She is survived by her partner, Arne Pearson; her son, Aaron Ziegler; Aaron’s partner, Amy Danielson; her daughter-in-law, Vickie Love; and her grandchildren Katie, Ava, Julia, Grayson, and Elizabeth.

A celebration on of life will be held at her home, 20692 Keystone Road in Milaca, on Sunday, May 31st from 12–3 PM. Light lunch will be provided. No gifts or cards, please. Memorials may be directed to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
