Julie Tate

Julie Tate, age 65, of Milaca, formerly of Coon Rapids, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Julie was born on September 18, 1960, in Mora, Minnesota, to Carol Perrin and Robert Olson. She grew up in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and attended Coon Rapids High School.

Julie moved to Milaca in 2019, where she made her home. Above all else, Julie loved her family and friends with all her heart. She treasured the time she spent with those she loved.

Julie was a spitfire through and through. Tenacious, strong-willed, and an absolute fighter, she faced life on her own terms and carried that strength with her until the very end. Through it all, she never lost her sense of humor—a part of Julie that remained with her even during the hardest days.

Julie enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, getting lost in a good book, playing bingo, bowling, and the occasional game of Sorry! She was a great cook, and those lucky enough to gather around her table knew that food was one of the many ways Julie showed her love. She found happiness in the simple things and, most of all, in being surrounded by the people she loved.

Julie is survived by her husband, Duane Tate; her daughters, Amber Sonnek and Annie (Adam) Shand; her grandchildren, Brayden, Hayley, Ayla, Riley, Addelyn, Brooklyn, Easton, Gabriel, Chloe, Ellenora, Roman, Elaina, Carolynn, and Tatum; her siblings, Cathy (Bobby) Adams, Billy (Loni) Olson, Robert Olson, and Brenda (Dave) Rono; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carol (Lynn) Perrin and Robert (Dorothy) Olson.

A Celebration of Life for Julie will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Lions Park, 323 Oak Drive, Foley, Minnesota 56329.

Pink was Julie’s favorite color, and family and friends are encouraged to wear pink in her honor as we gather to celebrate her life.

Julie will be deeply missed, but the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the unmistakable spark that made her Julie will live on in everyone who loved her.
