Joane Helene Rhoda, age 90 of Foreston, passed away on April 23, 2026 on the family farm where she resided for the past 70 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church in Foreston. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 – 7 PM at the St. Louis Parish Center with a rosary service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to mass on Thursday.
Joane was born March 25, 1936 in Granite Ledge Township, Benton County, MN to Walter and Alice (Holmer) Judd. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1954. She married Harry Rhoda on June 18, 1956 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Brennyville, MN.
Joane was a hard-working dedicated farm wife and mother. She always had a big garden, preserving and canning its bounty. Many especially enjoyed her dill pickles over the years. She liked to embroider, crochet and quilt. Joane will be remembered as a good cook and baker who always had the cookie jar filled with her signature chocolate chip cookies. Her faith was of utmost importance, she prayed the rosary twice daily.
Left to cherish her memory include children, Tom (Julie) of Foreston, Jill (Steve) Tigner of Aurora, CO, David (Juliana) of Brainerd, Paul (Penny) of Morris, Peter of Foley, Lloyd of Foreston and Nancy Zumwalde of Bloomington; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and an additional 2 on the way and by many other relatives, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry and brother, Maurice Judd.
