Jeffrey Noel Dahlstrom, age 63, of Milaca, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at St. Cloud Hospital on the afternoon of Monday, June 15, 2026. Jeff had a deep connection to the Milaca community, where he built lifelong friendships and created lasting memories.
Jeff was born in Milaca on December 7, 1962, to his loving parents, David and Jean Dahlstrom. He grew up as the eldest of three children on 2nd Avenue and 5th Street alongside his brother, Jay, and sister, Jennifer. His earliest passions were sports and cars. He cherished riding along with his dad in the Dahlstrom Body Shop tow truck, attending the Princeton Speedway races, and collecting sports cards.
Jeff faced and overcame significant health obstacles during his youth. During his years at Milaca Middle and High Schools, he served as the team manager for football, baseball, basketball, and track. While in high school, Jeff helped form the Buckhorn softball team, which he managed for many years. He deeply enjoyed being a Buckhorn, sharing an adventurous, celebratory spirit with an amazing group of young men. Jeff formed his strongest, lifelong friendships during these years.
After graduating high school in 1981, Jeff began his career in special education. While attending St. Cloud State University in the 1980s, he worked as a living skills technician and residential counselor for mentally handicapped adults at the Mille Lacs County Developmental Achievement Center and Stepping Stones Group Home. Jeff graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education/School Counseling. He initially moved to Grand Rapids to work for the Northeastern Education District, later returning closer to home to serve as a guidance counselor and transition coordinator for the Mille Lacs Academy School Program in Onamia from 1994 through 2006, while completing his Master of Science degree in 2003.
Jeff was a strong contributor to the Milaca sports community. Over the years, he served as a referee and umpire for youth basketball, football, and softball events, and coached numerous youth basketball teams. He kept the official book for both girls and boys high school basketball games up until 2024. Children across multiple generations beloved Jeff for his playful spirit and kind heart.
Jeff enjoyed his membership at the Milaca Golf Course, playing in the men’s league and participating in club tournaments. Beyond sports, Jeff was an avid live music fan and a longtime supporter of the St. Cloud music scene, rarely missing a performance by his favorite bands, Slip Twister and the Fabulous Armadillos.
Above all, Jeff treasured his role as an uncle. He loved spending time with his nieces, Anna and Natalie and his nephews, Josh and Ayson. He always made time to attend Anna and Natalie's school functions and extracurricular activities, and cherished every moment spent with the boys whenever they visited Milaca. Jeff possessed a beautiful gift for making children feel uniquely valued and loved.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Jean Dahlstrom of Sauk Rapids; his brother, Jay (Therese Conroy) Dahlstrom of Minnetonka and their sons, Josh and Ayson; and his sister, Jennifer (Steve) Lage of St. Cloud and their daughters, Anna and Natalie. He is also survived by his extended family, including his uncles, Pete (Judy) Dahlstrom of Walnut Creek, CA, John (Linda) Dahlstrom of Grand Island, NE, James Dahlstrom of Plymouth, MN, Jay (Gloria) Byker of Fortuna, CA, and Mike (Sue) Stephens of Gustine, CA; his aunts, Barbara Byker of Kelso, WA, and Clara Asp of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Dahlstrom; his uncle, James Byker; his aunt, Joan Stephens; and his grandparents, Rueben and Bonna Dahlstrom, and Henry and Betty Byker.
In keeping with Jeff's wishes, no services will be held at this time.
