James Wredberg

James “Jim” Lloyd Wredberg, age 79, passed away peacefully in his home on September 24, 2026. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2026 at 11:30 AM at Lighthouse Fellowship in Milaca. Visitation will be from 11 – 11:30 AM at the church on Monday. Interment with full military honors will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Little Falls at 2 PM on Monday.

Jim was born in Elk River, MN to Alvin and Victoria (Carlson) Wredberg, and attended Anoka High School where he graduated in 1967. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the Army where he served his country honorably from 1967-1969 in Vietnam. He was assigned to the 1st US Army, “B” Co., 4th Batt, 54th Infantry. After his return from Vietnam he called Sue from a phone booth and told her "I'm going to marry you one day". He married the love of his life, Susan C. Mueller on July 9,1970. They moved to Princeton, MN to start their lives together and began to build their family. Jim and Sue were happily married for over 56 years. Jim was a loving father to their six children as well as a handful of others that were lucky enough to call him Dad too. Thank you for that Jim- I don’t know where we would be without you as such an important influence on our lives.

Jim spent his career working the night shift so he could be home during the day for the kids. On 9/11/2001, as the Twin Towers in New York City were being hit, Jim was signing paperwork in the Hoffman Engineering admin office, retiring after 30 years as a Certified Welder. Jim and Sue moved to McGregor where they built a home and lived for over 20 years until recently moving to Mora to be closer to family.

Jim loved the outdoors and wildlife. His favorite was any time he got on the dock or boat with family fishing. He especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his kids, all of them. We will forever miss him, his sense of humor, fun loving character and the way he loves his family with his whole heart.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Wredberg; their children, Mark, Vicki, Jeremy (Georgina), Adam, Craig and Anna (Jessie) Halgren; grandchildren, Dezirae (Derek) Hanson, Cole, Madelyn (Levi) Bechtle, Camryn, Carson, Austin, Levi, Evelyn; great- grandchildren, Emma, Thomas and Isabella; brothers and sisters, Ann Scherber, John (Kathy) Ottenstroer, JoAnn Brunner, Tom Wredberg and Dorothea Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Victoria; step-mother, Catherine Wredberg and brother, Allan Wredberg.
