Hildegarde Ann Nelson

Mass of Christian Burial for Hildegarde Nelson, age 98, of Milaca, formerly of Holdingford, will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Hildegarde Ann Nelson was born March 28, 1920 to George and Theresa Berscheid in St. Francis, MN.  As a child, she moved with her family to the Holdingford area.  She graduated from Albany High School and later attended beauty school.  She was united in marriage to Everett Nelson on January 24, 1946 in Grey Eagle, MN.  They made their home in Milaca and raised their three children there.  Hildegarde operated a beauty shop out of her home. She was a charter member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca and Hildegarde was very active in the parish.  She loved playing cards, gardening and spending time with family.  Hildegarde also loved to sew and crochet and she was well known for her rugs.  She passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Milaca Elim Home.

She is survived by her son, Merlyn and wife Chris (Billmark) Nelson of Coon Rapids;  daughter-in-law, Sharon (Hanenburg) Nelson of Milaca; son-in-law, Mark Johnson of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Josh (Rachelle) Nelson, Shawn (Rosemary) Nelson, Alesha (Josh) Patnode, Tony (Heather) Johnson, Andy (Amanda) Johnson, Amber (Adam) Deflorin, Cam (Meghann) Nelson, Luke (Jenna) Nelson and Kyle Nelson;  thirteen great-grandchildren;  also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  son, Martin; daughter, Margaret Johnson and four siblings.
