Esther was born on December 3, 1924 to Fred and Emma Dannenbrock in Nowlin, South Dakota. She grew up in South Dakota and graduated from Philip High School in 1943. During World War II she performed clerical work at an Air Force base in Utah. In 1946, Esther met and married Oliver King, and they moved to Milaca, Minnesota. Esther worked for 27 years as a bookkeeper for the Milles County Highway Department and was a volunteer Fire Warden for the state of Minnesota for 34 years. She was involved in many activities; she initiated the Busy Beavers 4-H club, was member of the Bock Garden Club, the local Saddle club, and many others. Esther also cashiered the Milaca Methodist Church Cookie walk through her 90thBirthday. She loved horses and horseback riding. She loved animals in general, raising dachshunds until 1960, and in her later years seemed to gather every stray cat in the area. She passed away on October 19, 2018 at Cherrywood Memory Care in Roseville, Minnesota.
She is survived by her loving daughter, June (Frank) Skog; grandchildren, Amanda Skog and Iver (Erica) Skog and great-grandson, Robert “Bobby” Skog.
