Elroy Chester Hanenburg, age 94, of Milaca, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025. Memorial service will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Interment with full military honors will follow at Pease Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elroy Chester Hanenburg was born January 20, 1931 to Ted and Margaret (Bouma) Hanenburg in Milaca, MN. He grew up with two other siblings, Gerald and Stan, on the family farm in Pease, MN. Elroy served in the US Air Force and went on to attend Minnesota School of Business to become a CPA. Unfortunately, his parents died unexpectedly and he was called home to take over the farm. Elroy married Darlene Hubers in 1957. Together they had four children and he also had one step-daughter. After the passing of Darlene in 1975, he married Norma Boyer and she preceded him in death in 2021.

Elroy enjoyed farming, golfing, fishing, bowling and his family. He was a lifelong member of the Pease Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder. He was involved in missions trips and Habitat For Humanity. Elroy loved traveling, especially going to California to visit Beth and Olaf. During his time in California, he enjoyed visiting his brother, Stan and wife Greta and his nieces and nephews. Elroy’s passion has always been farming alongside his son on the family farm. Elroy drove tractor until he was 92 year old.

He is survived by his children, Kristi (Les) Koppendrayer of Mankato, Beth Hanenburg (Olaf Mjelde) of San Diego, CA, Lori Drangstveit (Billy Boxwell) of St. Francis and Curt (Sharon) Hanenburg of Milaca; step-daughter, Debbie (Darrell) Fore of St. Michael; also by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Margaret; wives, Darlene and Norma; brothers, Gerald and Stan Hanenburg and son-in-law, Mark Drangstveit.
