Elmer V. Warolin

Funeral services for Elmer Warolin, age 91, of Milaca, will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11 AM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.  Visitation will be held from 9 -11 AM at the church on Saturday.

Elmer Vincent Julius Warolin was born November 28, 1927 to Gustav and Hannah (Johnson) Warolin.  He graduated from Milaca High School in 1945. He farmed until 1965.  Elmer married Phyllis Anderson on March 22, 1968 in Blomkest, MN.  Elmer was a lifetime resident of Milaca.  He served as Acting Postmaster of Milaca for 18 months and also served as Mille Lacs County Assessor.  In 1975, Elmer became Mille Lacs County Treasurer and in 1979 he was appointed Auditor/Treasurer, where he served until his retirement in 1993.  In 1992, he was chosen Auditor of the Year by the Minnesota Association of County Auditors.  He was a charter member of the Greater MN 2-Cyl Club.  Elmer was an active member of The Gideons International for 38 years.  He and his family traveled in 49 of the 50 states and also went to Sweden in 1985. Elmer passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Milaca Elim Home.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis;  daughter, Beth and husband, Jim Stertz of Brooklyn Park;  son, John of Milaca;  sister, Alice Lundgren of Willmar;  also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Hannah Warolin;  sister, Helen and brothers, Edgar and Leonard.
