Daniel Milton Scofield

Funeral services for Dan Scofield will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 1 PM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Food and memories will be shared in the same location after the service.

Dan Scofield of Milaca, Minnesota passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the age of 76 years and 6 months.

Daniel Milton Scofield was born September 14, 1942 to Daniel Matthew Scofield and Helen Mary-Victoria (Weber) Scofield in Pine City, Minnesota.

Daniel married the love of his life, “Nancy Sue” on July 28, 2006 in Sisseton, South Dakota.  He ended each day with a goodnight kiss; he gave his last kiss goodnight on March 13, 2019. Daniel passed unexpectedly the next morning.  He had many loves in his life, but nothing rivaled the love he had for his wife, his family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

As a young man Daniel received his education from Milaca High School in Milaca, Minnesota.  After his father passed he took over the family business, Scofield Trucking. Throughout his working career he held several different positions at, and ultimately retired from, Hoffman Engineering.  However, work was only a small part of this old cowboy’s life.  Daniel had many passions, like camping, deer hunting and watching old western movies.  He loved riding his motorcycle, he loved dancing with his wife and he loved being in the woods.  Dan Scofield was a loving husband, a caring father, brother, grandfather and dear friend to many. There are no words for how desperately he will be missed. 

He spent his life chasing that 30-point buck, and grandpa, if you’re listening… I hope you see plenty from your great big deer stand in the sky.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and four siblings, Richard, Roger, Mary-Ellen and Cindy.

His is survived by his wife, Nancy Scofield (Packard); his siblings, Marian Ricklick and Linda (Clayton) Voss; his seven children, Harlan Sr. (Kelly) Scofield, Randy (Cindy) Scofield, Sherry (Pat) Messina, Peggy (Geoff) Strand, Jeannie (Todd) Foreman, Matt (Anna) Kjesbo and Sherry (Damian) Olsen-Gapinski; his nineteen grandchildren, Harlan Jr. (Morgan) Scofield, Drew (Amber) Scofield, Kelsey (Keith) Lusti, Hannah (Nolan) Scofield-Erickson, Alec Scofield, Zachary Messina, Carissa Messina, Nicholas Strand, Mickenzie Kelash, Breanna (Tyler) Landowski, Jordan Kelash, Sawyer Kelash, Noah Kelash, Kylie Kjesbo, Brynn Kjesbo, Grayden Kjesbo, Jessica (Jesse) Orton, Danielle (Eric) Heck and Morgan Gapinski; 19 great-grandchildren; extended family and many dear friends.
