Charmaine Swenson

Charmaine Marie (Bohm) Swenson, age 88, died May 04, 2025. Charmaine was born June 27, 1936, to Albert and Dorothy Bohm of Hillsboro, North Dakota. She attended Hillsboro Public School, Mayville State University, North Dakota, and St. Cloud State University, Minnesota.

Myron Swenson and Charmaine were married August 2, 1958. Three sons enlivened their hearts and homes in Hettinger, North Dakota and Milaca, Minnesota.

She expressed her interest in reading as a public school teacher; and at one time was the president of the Minnesota Reading Association. Charmaine thought the words on a page were like candy to children and like a vintner’s choice to adults. Words like children grow. They grow into stories. The stories are a flowering of life. Life loves on into eternity; writ by God for all creation.

Charmaine’s kitchen preserved delicious family, friend tales. She wouldn’t let you stir the pot, literally. The grands soon learned the genie in granny’s cookie jar would be released if they helped themselves to not just one but two cookies. And who would put a bell on the door of the liquor cabinet? Charmaine.

Myron and Charmaine held each other in love with sons, daughters-in-love and grandchildren: Kirk (Kris), Chad (Peggy), Bret (Jennifer) Swensons. Grandchildren, their echoes of love: Jennifer (Jeremy), Briella, Bryson Nichols; Lauren, Alexa Swenson; Danielle (Brent), Jack, Adam, Luke Oslin; Myles, Andrew, Samuel Swenson. Preceded in death: husband (2016), parents, sister Verona and beloved friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 11 AM Trinity Lutheran Church, Milaca, Minnesota her community of faith. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
