Charles “Chuck” Roger Rensenbrink was born on March 21, 1942, in Milaca, MN, to Jacob and Bessie (Zuidema) Rensenbrink. He grew up on the family farm and attended Pease Christian Reformed School from kindergarten through eighth grade. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1960.
He married Violet Johnson on August 28, 1965, and they resided in Milaca, where they raised their two sons, Bryan and Adam. Chuck held many jobs, including working as a clerk at the Bock Store, an insurance underwriter, and a bus driver for the Milaca DAC. He found his calling as a Milaca police officer and faithfully protected and served his community from 1982 to 2006.
Chuck’s pastimes included working in his garage, fixing repairable cars, fishing and camping at Smith Lake, and watching NASCAR. Chuck’s greatest joy was being “Poppy/Papa” to his children and grandchildren, and most recently to his great-granddaughter, Indy.
Chuck was always singing a song (and asking, “Didn’t know I could sing, did ya?”), cracking a joke, and making every person he encountered feel like they mattered. His kind heart touched many, and he never turned away a hug.
Chuck passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Mille Lacs Health System after a brief illness on March 8, 2026.
He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Laurie) of Milaca and Adam (Shannon) of Foreston; four grandchildren, Ellie (Joey), Will (Kassidy), Kendall, and Tyler; and one great-granddaughter, Indy. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Schlukebir; sisters-in-law, Dotti Rensenbrink, Lorraine (Bud) Wessman, Dorothy (Ed) Hanenburg, and Linda (Jere) Day; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was finally reunited with the love of his life, Vi, after 18 long years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harry; his brothers-in-law, Bruce and Wayne; his sister-in-law, Marcy; and his nephew, Larry. He impacted the lives of so many. His smile and love will be deeply missed.
