Carol Joyce Fox

Funeral services for Carol Fox, age 82, of Milaca, will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services.  Interment will follow at Wendell Hill Cemetery near Milaca.

Carol Joyce Halgren was born on November 4, 1937 to Albert and Arvilla (Aleckson) Halgren at home.  She attended District 21 country school located across the road from the family farm.  She graduated from Milaca High School in 1955.

In 1957, she married Elmer "Al" Fox in Roy, Washington where Al was stationed while serving in the Army.  After Al was discharged from the service, the couple returned to Minnesota and had four children.  Carol worked for UNIVAC and Honeywell in the 1960’s, then moved to Milaca in 1970 where she worked for Gorecki, Mfg. and Crystal Cabinets.  Carol retired in her early 50’s and enjoyed maintaining her large yard, many flower gardens and canning many of the things she grew in her vegetable garden.  Carol died Friday, November 15, 2019 at The Gardens of Foley surrounded by her family after a year-long battle with lung cancer.

She is survived by her sons, Jim Fox of Milaca, Steve (Vicki) Fox of Brainerd;  daughter, Terry (Gary) Van Donsel of Foreston;  brothers, Duane (Sue) Halgren of Tygh Valley, OR and Lowell (Sharon) Halgren of Milaca;  sister-in-law, Myrna Halgren of Milaca;  7 grandchildren;  9 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson;  also by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents;  brother, Dale Halgren;  ex-husband, Al Fox and son, Roy Fox.
