Carl John Bergstrom

March 1, 1941 — March 10, 2019

Funeral services for Carl Bergstrom, age 78, of Milaca, will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2 PM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 2 PM at the church on Saturday.  

Carl John Bergstrom was born March 01, 1941 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota to Warner and Clara (Krona) Bergstrom.  He attended eight years of country school and later attended Milaca High School and Dunwoody Institute. 

He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany.  He toured many European countries and skied many fearful mountains.  He also visited his grandmother’s birthplace and church. He was discharged in 1965.

Carl and Diane met on a sleigh ride in January 1966.  Yes, he threw her off into snow, but Diane saw his heart when he helped her back on. They were united in marriage at Kamel Covenant Church in Princeton, Minnesota on July 30, 1966.  They have been married almost 53 years.  God blessed them with happy contented years. Their first home was in Minneapolis. Carl and Diane moved with their family to Milaca and enjoyed their hobby farm.  Carl loved his farm, gardening, cutting wood, tapping maple trees, hunting and fishing.  He had many young boys helping him with this work.  Carl was a sheet metal worker for forty years.  He loved his work.

Carl loved serving his Lord in this church as a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, trustee, deacon, building chair, and greeter.

Carl passed away March 10, 2019 at the Milaca Elim Home.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Diane; son, Timothy Carl (Weyni) and daughter, Shari Lynn (David) Herwig; grandchildren, Lily and Nate Herwig and Karl Bergstrom; brother, Julian (Janice) Bergstrom; sisters-in-law, Kaye Bergstrom; Kathy (Ron) Platzer, and LaVonne Anderson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David “Pinky”, brothers-in-law, Allan Berg and Richard ”Galen” Berg.

Carl struggled the last few years with Lewey body dementia, but now enjoying Heaven.
