Barbara June Zytkovicz

Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Zytkovicz, age 90, of Onamia, will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 – 10:30 AM at the church on Saturday.

Barbara June Zytkovicz was born December 24, 1928 to Fred and Freda (Frank) Benz in Melvin, Illinois. She moved with her family during her senior year in high school to Onamia.  Barbara graduated from Onamia High School in 1946.  After high school, she worked at Milaca Mills.  She was united in marriage to Frank Zytkovicz on August 13, 1949 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia.  The couple made their home on a farm near Onamia.  Barbara worked in the laundry at the Community Mercy Hospital in Onamia and at Crosier Seminary.  She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and sang in the choir. She loved to play piano and taught her grandson to play.  Barbara also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles.  She dreamed of winning the Powerball, so she could give all the money away.  She cared for her mother for many years and taught her family the value of caring for each other and family unity.  She passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Mille Lacs Health System.

She is survived by her children, Marie (Chuck) Norman of Milaca, Lewis (Lynda) Zytkovicz of Onamia and Josie Zytkovicz of Clear Lake;  grandchildren, Clayton (Sara) Norman of Clear Lake, Jeff Zytkovicz of Minneapolis and Jason Zytkovicz (fiancée Amanda) of Plymouth; great-grandchildren, Emma and Cade Norman;  sister, Irma Hatch of Princeton;  brothers, John (Marcille) Benz of Las Vegas, Nevada and David Benz of Milaca;  also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank;  grandson, Joe Norman and brother, Robert.
