A remembrance service for Arlo Christensen, age 85, of Milaca, will be held Sunday, December 03, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Arlo Christensen and his twin brother, Donald, were born at their farm home on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1932, to Bernard and Anna Christensen in Milford, IA. In May 1953, Arlo and his twin brother were drafted and served in the Army Medical Corp at Denver, CO during the Korean War for two years. Upon their discharge, Arlo had risen to the rank of Army Medical Specialist. Now he was ready to begin farming. He farmed for many years in the Clearwater and Foreston area. He also was a milk hauler for dairy farmers in the Foreston area. He raised broilers for several years in Arkansas. The last work he enjoyed doing as at Crystal Cabinets for over fifteen years. During his working years, he met, fell in love and married Shirley Mae Johnson. They had three children, Helen, James and Wesley. He is survived by wife, Shirley of 54 years; daughter, Helen Christensen of Milaca; son, James (Michelle) Christensen of Sauk Rapids; five granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; twin brother, Donald (Arlene) of Gentry, AK; brother, Carroll “Art” (Cecelia) of Foreston; sisters, Gladys Sears of Milaca, Betty Jepson of Milaca and Charlotte Dassenko of Milaca; also by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Wesley; grandson, Dylan; his parents; his grandparents; two brothers, Lyle and Robert and his mother and father-in-law. Arlo passed away November 26, 2017 at the Elim Care and Rehab Center in Milaca.
