Alywin Unger

June 19, 1952 — September 21, 2023

Hinckley

On September 21, 2023, Alywin Unger, of rural Ogilvie, quietly passed away at the Cambridge Medical Center.

During his life he may have been seen as head strong, independent and outspoken.  But few have experienced his true caring, compassion.

He was born June 19, 1952 to LeRoy and Lorraine Unger at Mora Hospital.  Alywin changed the house into a home.  Alywin had everything running smoothly by the time his brothers, Stanley and Kevin joined the family.

After graduating from Milaca High School, as many you people do, Alywin searched for his direction and purpose.  He found many adventures that he shared with others.  He worked at several construction companies, including Schafer Contracting.

Alywin enjoyed his time to himself, riding motorcycles and ice fishing, or hopping in his truck with his video camera to film the country roads or recent events.  He will be remembered for his laughter during a family game of Monopoly, crying when his dog’s ashes were returned to him and fun time camping with friends or smelting.  Most important, Alywin lived his life enjoying simple things and thinking of his family.

When the family gathered you could feel and experience his true gentle nature.  He is survived by his brothers, Stanley (Julene) Unger of Milaca, MN and Kevin Unger of Honolulu, HI;  nephew, Stan Unger of Milaca;  niece, KimberLe Unger of Charleston, SC and grand-nieces, Emma and Skylar Unger of Milaca.  While Alywin’s family and friends will miss him, we know he is happy with his peace and quiet.

In keeping with Alywin’s wishes, no services will be held.  Memorials are preferred to – Elderwood of Hinckley Activity Fund, 710 Spring Lane, Hinckley, MN 55037.
