A mass of Christian burial for Kathleen Vasecka will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Father James Remmerswaal, OSC, officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Kathleen Fay Vasecka was born September 02, 1936 to George and Edith (Quance) Mallas in Staples, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to James Vasecka on June 19, 1954 at Sacred Heart in Staples. She worked at Medtronic for ten years. Anyone who knew Kathleen knew that her favorite pastime was reading. She enjoyed Bingo, computer games, and the occasional visit to the casino. She helped at church, serving as a Eucharistic minister. She also helped with meals on wheels. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but especially her seven daughters. She passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at her residence in Milaca. Kathleen is survived by her seven daughters, Edie (Dan) Flom of Milaca, Pam (Steve) Kelash of Rice, Kathy (Steve) Nelson of Princeton, Brenda (Rick) Johnson of Isanti, Sandy Hugg and special friend, Joe, Janine (CJ) DeStefano of Pease, and Joyce (Al) Wilson of Milaca; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette (Paul) Hartman of Minneapolis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, George and Edith; daughter, Jennifer; and brothers, Ivan and Georgie. She was with us 80 years. She is loved and will be missed forever.
