Ted Horvath Sr., age 90, of Milaca, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 1 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Theodore Paul Horvath, Sr. was born October 22, 1925 to Balin and Theresa (Unger) Horvath near Elk River, MN. He grew up and attended school in the Elk River area. Ted served in the U.S. Army as a machine gunner during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhine. He was united in marriage to Joyce Nelson on November 9, 1946 in Elk River. Ted worked for thirty-two years at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka as a welder. Together, Ted and Joyce raised foster children for over thirty years. Ted enjoyed going fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Joyce of Milaca; son, Ted Jr. of Milaca; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Vicki Horvath of Minnetonka; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne; sisters, Helen, Ann and Barb; brothers, Steve and Joe and twin brother, Bud.
