Dorothy LaVonne Anderson

Memorial services for Dorothy L. Anderson, age 87, of Onamia, formerly of Milaca, will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Fr. Jerry Schik, OSC and Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 1:30 PM at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery in Ronneby. Dorothy LaVonne Anderson was born February 24, 1929 in St. Cloud, MN. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca in 1943. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1947. Dorothy attended Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1951. Dorothy taught at schools in Starbuck, White Bear Lake, Ogilvie and Princeton. Dorothy then quit teaching to care for her parents. She was confirmed into the Catholic faith by Fr. Richard John, OSC in 1995. Dorothy moved to Lake Song in Onamia in 2012 and later to the Mille Lacs Nursing Home in 2013. She befriended many people over her lifetime, especially children. Dorothy was always a good listener and caretaker. She had a lot of silent love. Dorothy passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Mille Lacs Nursing Home in Onamia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvid and Alma (Peterson) Anderson.
