Sharon Louise Murphy

Sharon Louise Murphy, age 76, of Milaca, MN passed away Friday, August 14, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milaca, MN. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Duelm. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, August 19 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to service at church on Thursday. Sharon was born June 24, 1939 in St. Cloud, MN to Gotfred and Gladys (Halvorson) Stromberg. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1957. Sharon married Barton Swanson on September 24, 1959. To this union two children were born, Brenda and Laurie. She married Leo Murphy on February 18, 1989. Sharon worked for the East Central Electric Association for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Upon retiring, Sharon and Leo enjoyed many years of spending winters in Arizona. Sharon enjoyed baking, traveling, reading and playing dominoes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing her great-grandson's Monday night softball game. Sharon will forever be remembered for her generosity and commitment to caring for others. Sharon is survived by daughters, Brenda (Jim) Olness, Apache Junction, AZ and Laurie (Jim) Corrigan, Foley, MN. Grandchildren, Jennifer (Jesse) Corrigan, Foley, MN; Ryan Olness, Apache Junction, AZ; Megan Olness, Apache Junction, AZ; Becky Corrigan, Foley, MN and Kelsey Corrigan, Foley, MN. Great-grandchildren, Nathan Corrigan, Foley, MN and Brielle Corrigan, Foley, MN. Longtime friends, Gail VanderPlaats, Milaca, MN and Cheryl Knapp, Milaca, MN. And the family of Leo Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gotfred and Gladys; brother, Arden; infant great-granddaughter, Madison; and her husband, Leo.
