Marty Nelson

Martin "Marty" E. Nelson, age 59, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 in his home near Glen, MN. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milaca with Deacon Tom Pinataro officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Casket bearers will be brother, Merlyn Nelson, brother-in-laws, Mark Johnson, Tom LeGalley, and Mike Larsen and friends Sam Pearson and Steve Johnson. Marty Nelson was born October 13, 1955 in Milaca to Everett and Hildegarde (Berscheid) Nelson. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1973 and went on to Anoka Technical College graduating with an electrical degree in 1981. Marty later started his own electrical business known as Marty’s Electric. When he retired from the Electrical Business, Marty became a realtor for United Country Real Estate in Milaca up until May 2015. On April 25, 1981 Marty married Sharon Ann Hanenburg in Pease, MN. They moved to a home in the country in Milaca where they raised their 3 children. Marty loved watching his children play sports, hunting, snowmobiling, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. Marty was a member of the Milaca Golf Club where he enjoyed playing and teaching his children the game of golf – to Marty, Men’s League on Wednesdays was a day of obligation! He is survived by his wife of 34 years Sharon; children Joshua (Rachelle) Nelson of Sauk Rapids, Shawn Nelson of St. Cloud, Alesha Nelson and fiancé Josh Patnode of Huntington Beach, CA.; 3 grandchildren, Claire Nelson, Hailey Bauer and Logan Bauer. Marty is also survived by mother Hildegarde Nelson, brother Merlyn (Chris) Nelson and sister Margaret (Mark) Johnson along with many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Everett Nelson, father and mother in-law Andy and Shirley Hanenburg and brother-in-law, Jim Hanenburg and nephew James Hanenburg.
