Funeral services for Christian Schiebout will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pease Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Michael Ten Haken officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the Pease Cemetery. Christian Theodore Schiebout was born December 3, 1937 in Orange City, Iowa to Henry and Bertha (Daavelar) Schiebout. As a young child, he grew up on various farms in Sioux County, Iowa and in 1950 he moved with his family to Edgerton, Minnesota. He spent most of his career as a dairy and crop farmer, purchasing his first farm in 1958, but was also employed for short periods of time as a mink farmer, fur trapper, construction worker, logger, and in the National Guard. Chris married Henrietta Nobel on August 7, 1964 in Rock Valley, Iowa. They first farmed near Beaver Creek, Minnesota, then moved to Kenneth, Minnesota for a few years, and then in 1970, they moved to Milaca, Minnesota. They had six children. His interests and hobbies were varied which included trapping, hunting, fishing, auto racing, airplane model building, gun collecting, ultra-light aircraft building, and other construction projects. He was also very active in the Ogilvie Christian Reformed Church, serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years. He passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 50 years, Henrietta; children, Gregory (Vonda) Schiebout of Milaca, Nancy (Robert) Wilcox of Sabattus, Maine, Valerie (Dale) Brown of Fort Collins, Colorado, Michael (Jodi) Schiebout of Jackson, Tennessee, Melanie (Paul) Bauer of Arlington, Virginia, and Brian Schiebout of Mesa, Arizona; siblings, Cora (Harold) Vander Ziel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lena (Charlie) Madison of Brandon, South Dakota, Beth (Jerry) Wieman of Luverne, Helen Harris of El Paso, Texas, and John (Barb) Schiebout of Edgerton; 23 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his parents.
