Funeral services for Elaine Swanson, age 87, of Milaca, will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11 AM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Dan Clausen officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM on Monday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Elaine Delores Swanson was born November 15, 1927 in Oak Park, Minnesota to Chester and Mabel (Lundstrom) Swanson. She attended a number of different schools and graduated from high school in Bremerton, Washington. She was united in marriage to Clinton Swanson on October 4, 1946 at Milaca Evangelical Free Church. They made their home in Milaca all of their married life. Elaine worked with Clint in the family transport business as the bookkeeper, dispatcher, and as the CFO. She loved to entertain and always had fresh baked goodies. Summers were spent at their cabin and winters were spent snowmobiling. In retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Elaine spent winters in Arizona, even after Clint’s passing.
Elaine was past president and an active member of the Milaca American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and participated in league bowling for many years. She was in a birthday club, a sewing club, and numerous other clubs.
Elaine passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Milaca Elim Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Timothy) Monahan of Naples, Italy; sons, Dick of Milaca and Terry (Dawn) of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren, Breck, Kate, and Peter Swanson, Nathaniel (Aksana) Monahan and Erin (Aaron) Grieco, Matthew and Mark Swanson; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Mason, Addison, and baby boy Grieco due in September; one brother, Gerald (Nancy) Swanson, two sisters-in-law, Esther Swanson and Louise Schlueter; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton; grandson, Brannan; brother, Kenneth and sister, Elvera.
