Funeral services for Marjorie Kent, age 96, will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Visitation will take place ½ prior to services. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery near Milaca. Marjorie Eileen Luedtke was born April 27, 1919 in Milory, MN to Frank and Minnie (Brakke) Luedtke. She moved to Foreston with her family in 1929 and graduated from Milaca High School in 1937. She attended teacher’s training in Princeton for one year and taught in local country schools for several years. On March 15, 1941, she married Joe Kent at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in Milaca. For most of the next 43 years, they dairy farmed in Bradbury and Page Townships until Joe’s death in 1984. She continued to farm with her sons until 1986, when she contracted chronic Lyme disease. Since that time, she lived with and coped with daily pain. She moved to a house in Milaca in 2008 and later to the “High Rise” Apartments in 2013. Marjorie died on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Marjorie was a hard worker, a good manager, and a wonderful cook and baker. She helped with the farm chores, ran the house and kept the books. She also hosted many family get-togethers and maintained a lengthy list of friendships and family relationships through many hand-written letters. She battled back from a stroke suffered in January 2014 and was able to return to her apartment and resume taking care of herself – thanks in large part to her own determination and effort. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe and brother, Harlan Luedtke. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Wohl of Pinehurst, ID; sons, Dan and Lynn of Milaca; grandchildren, Earl Kent of San Francisco, CA, Liza Kent (Kelly Mastin) of Milaca, Dan Kent, Jr. of Maplewood, MN, Kait (Mark) Kent-Davy of Monterey, CA, and Ethan (Aliyah) Kent of San Diego, CA; four great-granddaughters, Meaghann, Miranda, and Fallon Mastin of Milaca and Cleo Davy of Monterey, CA.
