Muriel Edith Sorensen

Memorial service for Muriel Sorensen, age 79, of Milaca, will be held on Thursday, June 26th at 2 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Muriel Edith Sorensen was born February 19, 1935 in Mille Lacs County to Harold and Elsie (Hanenburg) Roelofs. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1953. Muriel was united in marriage to Howard Sorensen on July 2, 1954 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church. Muriel and Howard were blessed with six children and together they ran the family farm. She enjoyed reading her bible, gardening, canning, caring for her flowers and watching the wildlife and the river from her kitchen window. She enjoyed spending anytime she could with her children, grandchildren and family. She passed away on Saturday, June 21st at her home. She is survived by her husband, Howard; children, Leslie Sorensen, Ann Weikert, Peter (Barb) Sorensen, James Sorensen, Jean (Denny) Robinson and Karen (Dennis) Cordes; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Verlin (Gloria) Roelofs; sisters-in-law, Carol Berg and Bertha Roelofs; also by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Elsie; twin brother, Merle Roelofs and brother, Glen Roelofs.
