Alfred Charles Carlson, age 79 of Milaca, MN passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 5 at 11 AM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 – 7 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Alfred Carlson was born on April 26, 1934 to Clifford and Elsie Margaret (Komar) Carlson in Milaca, MN, growing up and receiving his education in Milaca as well. Alfred served in the U.S. Army from 1955 through 1958. He married the love of his life, June (Danner) on July 24, 1960. The couple made their home in Princeton where they were blessed with five children: Julie, Brenda, Lisa, Steve and Amy. Alfred drove milk truck for several years until being able to fulfill his dream of becoming a farmer. Throughout his life Alfred thoroughly enjoyed all that came with being a farmer, spending time with family and friends and playing cards. After retiring in 1996, Alfred and June built a home in Milaca and Alfred spent a great deal of time working at the Senior Center. Alfred was generous, kind and quick witted, with a great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Alfred is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, June; daughters, Julie (Butch) Brown; Brenda; Lisa (Rob) Garberich; Amy; son, Steve (Tracy) Carlson; grandchildren, Gerrit Garberich, Karlee Brown, Kelsey Garberich, Jake Carlson and Cole Carlson;  sister, Joyce Krist. Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Elsie, brother, Martyn and grandson, Eric.
