Jennie Kiel

Funeral services for Jennie Kiel, age 88, of Milaca, will be held Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Rev. Michael Ten Haken and Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 2:00-4:00 PM at the church and also one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at the Pease Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Mark Vanden Einde, Dallas Vanden Einde, Robert Vanden Einde, Tom Kiel, Dennis Kiel, and Harvey Schreur. Providing music for the service will be Pam and Paul Knapper. Jennie Kiel was born October 28, 1925 to Louis and Johanna (Mulder) Vanden Einde in Mille Lacs County. Jennie, along with her twin brother, Herman, and six other siblings, grew up near Pease. She attended Christian school through eighth grade. She married Henry Kiel on February 09, 1945 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. They had one daughter, Clareen. Jennie worked side by side with Hank as they farmed during the early years of marriage in Milo Township. Jennie and Hank moved to Pease and later to Princeton, where Jennie worked for Fingerhut, Droogsma Locker, and many night shifts as a PCA in the Princeton and Milaca Elim Homes. In 1977, they moved to Conrad, Montana where they met many wonderful friends and had lasting relationships. In 1983, they moved back to Pease to be closer to their granddaughters. Jennie was a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church and active in ladies aide and mission society. Jennie enjoyed crocheting, entertaining, playing cards, and especially watching all of her granddaughter’s softball games. Hank and Jennie made many fifth wheel trips to warmer climates for sixteen years. She passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Milaca Elim Home. She is survived by her daughter, Clareen (Scott) Metcalf of Eagan; two granddaughters, Alyssa (Brian) Wiczek of Saint Louis Park and Megan (Kyle) Fritze of Burnsville; great grandson, Henry Fritze; sisters-in-law, Violet Rens and Hermina Kiel; brother-in-law, Laurence Kiel, all of Milaca; also many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Henry, her parents, brothers, Charlie, Lambert, Drys, Clarence, and twin brother, Herman; sisters, Sadie Hanenburg and Grace Nelson.
