A memorial gathering for Norma Erickson, age 64, of Milaca, will be held from 5 – 8 PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Her grandchildren, Shane Norman, Blayne Norman, Derrick Byker and Lainy Norman will serve as honorary pallbearers. Norma Jean Erickson was born July 26, 1948 to Elvin “Bud” and Blanche Nelson in Princeton, MN. She graduated from Milaca in 1966. Norma went on to graduate from the St. Cloud School of Nursing in 1970 and ICCU training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in 1974. She was united in marriage to Lance Erickson on October 22, 1966 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Bock. Norma was the Director of Nursing for the Milaca Area District Hospital as well as a volunteer EMT for the Milaca District and North Memorial for over thirty years. She worked with Mille Lacs County Public Health from 1988 to April 2013. Norma lived in the Milaca community all of her life and was named Milaca Citizen of the Year. She was a life member and served as treasurer of the Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post 178 Auxillary. She passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Milaca Elim Home. She is survived by her husband, Lance of Milaca; children, Monique (Ray) Norman of Milaca, Michelle (Steven) Dietrick of Hungry Horse, MT; grandchildren, Shane (Kirsten) Norman, Blayne (Whitney) Norman, Lainy Norman and Derrick Byker; great-grandchildren, Brayden Goetzke and RaeLynn Norman; sister, Katherine Goff of North Adams, MA; also by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Blanche.
