Funeral service for Mary Dahl, age 89, of Milaca, will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Rev. Tom Sahlstrom and Rev. David Kiel officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, from 5-7 PM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease, and one hour prior to the funeral service. Mary Elizabeth Dahl was born March 2, 1923 to Henry and Nellie (Beukema) Rindels in Milaca, MN. She grew up and attended school in Milaca, graduating from Milaca High School in 1940. After graduating, Mary worked at the Mille Lacs County Courthouse and at the Mille Lacs County Times. She was united in marriage to Mahlon Dahl on October 10, 1947 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. When Mahlon entered the National Guard during the Korean War, they moved to Camp Rucker, AL. Mary and the children lived there for almost two years. The family returned to Minnesota and made their home in Aitkin. In 1954, they moved to Little White Fish Lake near Garrison, MN. Mary worked at the Vineland Elementary School for five years. After her husband’s death in 1986, Mary moved back to Milaca. Mary was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. She enjoyed participating in church activities and volunteering at the Milaca Elim Home. She loved sewing, quilting, reading and playing cards. Mary died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Todd of Ham Lake; sons, Reynold (Wendy) of Whitinsville, MA and Robert (Diane) of Chanhassen; nine grandchildren; Donovan, Brian (Renae) and Julie Todd, Justin, Mark (Elizabeth), Eric and Corah Dahl, and Jason and David Dahl; three great-grandchildren; Cody, Ashley and Christopher Todd. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mahlon; brother, Cornelius , three sisters, Bessie, Theresa and Ruth and son-in-law, Paul Todd. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Elim Home and Country Meadows in Milaca.
